Carriers now have a choice of
submitting referrals via mail or e-mail. A Word
document
template of the e-referral form is available
by request to
referrals@ifb.org or by clicking on the link on this website. Additional
instructions on other ways to refer information to the IFB can be found in
The Referral Process and Procedures found on this website along with
PDF
versions
of the mail-in IFB Referral
Form and the
NAIC Uniform Suspected Insurance Fraud Reporting Form.
Email submissions must include, as attachments, a completed referral form as well as sufficient information for the IFB reviewer to make a decision on acceptance of the case for criminal investigation. Companies may have S.I.U. reports as Word documents or may have the capability to furnish a PDF file of pertinent documents for IFB review. Referrals that do not have sufficient information to make this determination are declined. Some good cases may be declined solely for lack of sufficient documentation provided by the referral contact.
An email submission saves S.I.U. and/or claim personnel time in copying and mailing document files needed by the IFB to evaluate a referral. However, whether a file is submitted via mail or email, upon acceptance of a referred claim, the IFB will request a CERTIFIED COPY of the complete claim file. ALWAYS TAKE STEPS TO SAFEGUARD YOUR ORIGINAL CLAIM FILE.
Email submissions should be forwarded to referrals@ifb.org. These submissions will be processed in the same way as mail-in submissions.
CAUTION: Email submissions by the insurance carrier are transmitted over unsecured lines and exposed to possible interception. Carriers need to be aware that information relayed to the IFB via this method may not be secure and the liability of intercepted transmissions rests with the sender.
