Lawrence Woman Charged After Photos Showed Prior Damage Before Vandalism Claim

Complaints were issued against a Lawrence woman on charges of motor vehicle insurance fraud and attempt to commit a crime.  The Lawrence woman is alleged to have reported to Progressive Casualty Insurance Company that on July 16, 2021, her 2018 Nissan Rogue was vandalized causing damage to the front and rear of the driver side.  She stated that she parked the vehicle near a friend’s residence and when she returned, she found the vehicle was vandalized and struck by an unknown object.  Investigation revealed photographs of the Nissan from April of 2021 that showed damage to the rear of the vehicle at that time.  The damage shown in the photographs was the same rear damage that the Lawrence woman reported in the July 16, 2021 loss.  The Lawrence woman maintained that the Nissan had no prior damage that had not been fixed.
