Lawrence Woman on Pre-Trial Probation for Motor Vehicle Insurance Fraud

A Lawrence woman was placed on pre-trial probation for one year on charges of motor vehicle insurance fraud and attempt to commit a crime.  The Lawrence woman reported to Arbella Insurance Company that on January 13, 2022, her 2015 Toyota RAV4 was hit while parked and unattended near her residence.  She reported that she discovered damage to the passenger side of the vehicle while she was on her way to work.  A forensic examination determined that the damage to the passenger side of the vehicle was inconsistent with a hit while parked loss.  The damage to the vehicle was consistent with it reversing and lightly sideswiping a stationary object painted yellow.  The Lawrence woman stated that there was no pre-existing damage to the vehicle and that no one else drives her vehicle.
