Lowell Man Charged After Forensic Review Disputes Parked-Car Crash Claim

Complaints were issued against a Lowell man on charges of motor vehicle insurance fraud and attempt to commit a crime. The Lowell man is alleged to have reported to Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation that on January 29, 2022, his 2011 Lexus RX350 was hit while parked causing damage to the front of the driver side and the rear of the passenger side. He stated that there was no pre-existing damage to the vehicle. A forensic examination revealed that that the damage was not the result of the vehicle being struck by an adverse vehicle in a single continuous motor vehicle accident. The damage indicated that there were two separate impact collisions with fixed objects comprised of an abrasive substance. The Lowell man maintained that it was impossible for the vehicle to have struck an object.
