Roslindale Man Charged with Motor Vehicle Insurance Fraud and Larceny

Complaints were issued against a Roslindale man on charges of motor vehicle insurance fraud and larceny over $1200.  The Roslindale man is alleged to have reported to Mapfre Insurance Company that on November 22, 2022 his 2014 BMW 428 was struck from behind by another vehicle causing damage to the right rear corner.  He stated that he had a passenger in the front seat and that both he and the passenger were injured as a result of the accident.  The Roslindale man reported that there was no pre-existing damage to the BMW's bumper.  Mapfre Insurance Company (adverse vehicle’s insurer) paid the passenger’s medical bills which totaled $7,216.   A vehicle damage analysis revealed in an Events Links Multi-Record Detention Report that the BMW damage allegedly sustained for the loss on November 22, 2022, had actually been sustained on June 11, 2022.  Further investigation confirmed that the damage on the BMW was from a coarse or jagged object and was not from the adverse vehicle reported in the loss on November 22, 2022.  The damage depicted in the June 11, 2022 report was the same damage from the November 22, 2022 loss. When provided with this information, the Roslindale man did not deny the pre-existing damage prior to the November 22, 2022 loss, but stated he was not aware of it.  The operator of the adverse vehicle on the November 22, 2022 loss stated that upon rolling into the Roslindale man’s bumper, they both exchanged information.  The Roslindale man told the operator of the adverse vehicle that he did not have sustain any damage from the accident.
