Springfield Man Charged with Staging Liberty Mutual Insurance Claim
A complaint was issued against a Springfield man on a charge of motor vehicle insurance fraud. The Springfield man is alleged to have reported to Liberty Mutual Insurance Company that on November 21, 2004, while operating his 2011 Honda Odyssey it collided into another vehicle and was damaged on the front right side. He also reported sustaining physical injury as a result of the loss causing him to seek aid at the hospital for treatment. The Springfield man has an automobile insurance policy with effective dates from January 11, 2024 through January 11, 2025. Investigation revealed that the Springfield man was not the operator of the Honda at the time of the loss and that he wasn’t even present at the loss. Surveillance video footage revealed that the operator of the Honda was a woman and the vehicle contained no other occupants. The Springfield man later admitted that he was not the operator of the Honda at the time of the loss.
